To all Motohio RAT Pack members and friends:
We had a good turnout for our meeting last week, Jan 21st. Approximately a dozen pack members turned out to meet, have pizza, cookies and beverages (yes, the rumors are true, there were adult beverages present). Thank you to Motohio for providing the refreshments.
We met for a few hours and have laid out a good foundation for a great 2010 riding season. We had a discussion revolving around creating a recognizable identity for our pack. The group decided that we will be call ourselves the Motohio RAT Pack in recognition of the Allen family’s efforts to create a rider’s organization in Central Ohio where Triumph enthusiasts and their friends can meet and ride with other Triumph owners. A couple of the members volunteered to work on creating a logo for our pack.
We talked about the riding schedule for 2010. Everyone expressed interest in day rides, as well as, overnight/weekend trips. The group decided to schedule one ride per month. The outline of the schedule is as follows:
· April – Sunday ride to Jimbo’s (date/time to be determined based on when Jimbo’s opens for the season)
· May – Destination and date/time to be determined
· June – Destination and date/time to be determined
· July
o AMA Vintage Days July 9-11 (opportunity for a group ride to Mid Ohio)
o Honda Super Cycle Weekend July 16-18 (opportunity for a group ride to Mid Ohio)
o Motohio Anniversary/Open House – July 23-24. (Hopefully the Triumph Demo Truck will be available to participate)
· August – 20, 21 & 22, MSTA Mail Pouch Fly By Rally, Marietta, OH
· September - Destination and date/time to be determined
· October - Destination and date/time to be determined
· November - Destination and date/time to be determined
· December - Destination and date/time to be determined
A few members have expressed an interest in planning rides. If you are interested, please let me know which of the open months above you would like to plan a ride? Some possible destinations could be:
· Flat track races in Lima
· Classic British Motorcycle Rally, Burlington, KY
· Tail of the Dragon, Deal’s Gap, North Carolina
In order to try to get more riders involved this year, we also decided that there will be impromptu rides the second weekend of each month (on both Saturday and Sunday). These rides will be in addition to the scheduled monthly ride in order to give our members who may not be able to make the scheduled ride the opportunity to ride with others in the pack. Riders interested in participating should plan to meet at Bob Evans Restaurant located at 1760 Hill Road North in Pickerington (I-70 & SR 256). We'll begin the impromptu rides in April. Start time for the rides will be 10:00 AM. We probably will make the starting time earlier as we get further into the year and the days get longer and warmer. Riders should feel free to meet earlier for breakfast and to determine the destination and route.
Other riding opportunities:
· Wednesday dinner rides – Every Wednesday from April through October. The schedule will be posted on Motohio’s web site.
· Grandview Euro Bike Night – Check out their website www.eurobikenight.com for the schedule.
Our next meeting will be Thursday evening, March 11th at 6:30. Please try to come out and meet your fellow pack members and help plan the rest of the activities for 2010. Let's see how many more members/friends we can get to join us.
